RF Power Systems Embedded Linux Engineer & Analog Power Designer

Location: Cypress, CA

Compensation: $160k/yr - $170k/yr

Schedule: Mon-Fri 8 am - 5 pm

A day in this dual-discipline role

Morning in the lab: you kick off a Yocto build, bring up device drivers, and tune control loops that keep our Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) and Block Upconverters (BUCs) rock steady across ground, airborne, and space environments. Midday, you’re instrumenting SPI/I2C/UART transactions, validating Ethernet/CAN/Modbus communications, and refining embedded C/C++ (with a dash of assembly) to meet mission-critical timing. By afternoon, you’re shoulder-to-shoulder with our power team, shaping AC-DC and DC-DC converter topologies, distribution schemes, and M&C boards—always with EMI/EMC discipline and aerospace compliance in mind—to push efficiency and power density for high-power RF systems.

What you’ll build and own

Embedded Linux and Controls

• Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for SSPAs and BUCs used in ground-based, airborne, and space-based systems.
• Implement advanced control algorithms and deliver robust device drivers using industry-standard debuggers and embedded toolchains.
• Integrate and validate communications over SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CAN, and Modbus.
• Engineer software that interfaces with power electronics, control systems, and high-power RF.

Analog/Power Electronics

• Design and optimize AC-DC and DC-DC converters, filters, power distribution, and monitor/control (M&C) boards for next-generation SSPAs and BUCs.
• Enable high-efficiency, high-power RF platforms across ground, air, and space missions.
• Apply EMI/EMC best practices and ensure aerospace regulatory compliance.
• Leverage expert-level analog design and power distribution architectures.

What you bring

Embedded profile

• 3+ years of embedded software development and architecture.
• Expert knowledge of the Yocto Project and real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, VxWorks, etc.).
• Proficiency in C/C++ and assembly for embedded targets.
• Hands-on with debuggers, embedded development tools, and device driver creation.
• Preferred: exposure to AI, GPUs, FPGAs, and NPUs.

Analog/power profile

• 5+ years designing analog circuits and power electronics with a record of shipping power supplies.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or satellite communications applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, or related field.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
