Yard Goat / Sit Down Forklift
- 3rd Shift
- Mandatory Overtime
- Move Trailers:
- Hook up to trailers and reposition them between docks, yard spots, and staging areas.
- Shuttle trailers in and out of dock doors based on loading/unloading schedules.
- Inspect Equipment:
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard trucks (goats) and trailers.
- Report any mechanical issues or damage immediately.
- Maintain Yard Organization:
- Ensure trailers are parked in assigned areas and labeled accurately.
- Keep traffic flowing smoothly and efficiently within the yard.
- Work With Dispatch & Warehouse Teams:
- Communicate with dispatchers, warehouse workers, and forklift operators to coordinate trailer movements.
- Respond to radio calls or electronic work orders for trailer moves.
- Document Trailer Movements:
- Log trailer numbers, move times, and locations for tracking and record-keeping.
- Use handheld scanners or yard management systems (YMS) if applicable.
- Follow Safety Protocols:
- Adhere to OSHA and company safety guidelines.
- Use proper PPE and follow traffic rules within the yard.
- Support Loading/Unloading:
- Occasionally assist in securing loads or verifying trailer seals, if required.
