Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced and high-performing acute care setting. This role requires strong clinical expertise, independence, and hands-on experience managing labor and delivery patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care across Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, and Postpartum

• Perform sterile vaginal exams independently (HARDSTOP requirement)

• Triage obstetrical patients and monitor labor progression

• Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, and C-sections

• Perform and interpret fetal monitoring (external/internal)

• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, insulin drips, and antihypertensives

• Deliver newborn care , including APGAR scoring and stabilization

• Support postpartum recovery including fundal checks, lactation support, and patient education

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for quality patient care

Unit Details

• Patient Ratio: 1:2

• Average Deliveries: 6–8 per day

• Beds: 15 | Rooms: 13

• Floating: Required (Mother Baby unit)

• Weekend Requirement: Every other (may increase based on unit needs)

Requirements

Required Qualifications (HARDSTOP)

• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience (1.5 years NOT accepted)

• AWHONN Advanced Certification – REQUIRED

• Sterile Vaginal Exam competency – MUST perform independently

• Triage experience – REQUIRED

• Epic charting experience – REQUIRED

• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
