OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Barista to join our team at a newly launched specialty coffee concept within our luxury 5 star property This is a unique opportunity to be part of the opening team, curate a distinctive coffee experience for our discerning guests.
As Lead Barista, you will be responsible for overseeing daily coffee operations, ensuring exceptional product quality, and delivering impeccable guest service in line with the standards of a luxury hospitality environment. You will play a key role in mentoring baristas, maintaining product consistency, and upholding the brand ethos of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the barista team in preparing and serving high-quality coffee and espresso-based beverages, teas, and other specialty drinks.
- Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and service quality in accordance with hotel and brand standards.
- Train, mentor, and support new and existing baristas to ensure product knowledge, technical skill, and guest engagement are at the highest level.
- Ensure daily operational readiness of the coffee bar, including cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and inventory control.
- Collaborate with the Coffee Shop Manager to develop seasonal menus, suggest new offerings, and manage product sourcing (including specialty beans, syrups, and brewing equipment).
- Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and daily reconciliations.
- Provide outstanding customer service, engaging with hotel guests and visitors in a warm and professional manner.
- Monitor quality control, health & safety, and food hygiene practices consistently.
- Coordinate with culinary and front of house teams to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction
- Serve as a brand ambassador for the coffee shop and the hotel.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a barista or lead barista role, preferably in a high-end café, restaurant, or luxury hotel setting .
- Expert knowledge of coffee brewing methods (espresso, pour-over, cold brew, etc.), latte art, and espresso machine maintenance.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a guest-centric approach
- Experience with staff training and leadership.
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining grace under pressure.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and hospitality industry standards.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, as required by hotel operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in barista training or coffee-related courses (e.g., SCA Certification).
- Experience in opening a new café or hospitality outlet.
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic inventory management software.

PayThe pay rate for this position is between $25.51 - $28.34/hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
Decisions regarding individual rates will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel luxury experience and/or Fine Dining Restaurant Experience.
