Palo Alto Networks is building a world-class product management organization and continues to look for top-notch technical marketing engineers to expand the team. As a Principal Technical Marketing Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, you will play a key role in providing detailed technical information to our partners, customers, and our employees.
In this role, you will work with cutting edge technology, redefining the future of Cloud network security.
The individual will be responsible for products that protect data, workloads, and infrastructure for some of the largest enterprise customers in the world. Help the customers journey to the Hybrid cloud by ensuring they have the best in class protection. Develop and execute the Palo Alto Networks plan for Software Firewalls, including outbound technical communication, product best practices, competitive reviews, POC demo environments, and automation, while working closely with internal stakeholders. Review PRDs and engineering specs and provide feedback. Document technical concepts to ensure our products are well understood and utilized to the greatest extent possible.
You are a self-starter, keen to learn and experiment with new technologies. You work well independently and excel at identifying the potential sales needs of our clients and shaping the direction of the company’s products. You aren’t afraid of ambiguity - instead, you like the challenge of defining new products as they come to market.
Your Impact
Technical Marketing Strategy: Develop, continuously refine, and execute the technical marketing plan for critical accounts to drive engagement and sales
Content Creation: Create, maintain, and deliver effective technical tools, whitepapers, demos, videos, and technical training for sales teams, customers, and partners
Automation Leadership: Lead automation initiatives within and across cross-functional teams, striving to achieve technical and operational excellence throughout the release process
Competitive Analysis: Conduct competitive research and testing to identify key advantages of our product lines and effectively communicate them to sales, customers, and partners
Technical Evangelism: Act as a key technical evangelist for Palo Alto Networks, speaking at seminars, conferences, customer briefings, and internal meetings
Product Enhancement: Collaborate with engineering to identify product gaps based on competitive analysis and work with Product Management (PM) to drive enhancements
Domain Authority: Serve as the domain authority on Palo Alto Networks products, providing Systems Engineers with information on competitive questions
Sales Support: Identify sales challenges arising from competitive situations and provide viable solutions
Technical Documentation: Document technical concepts to ensure our products are well understood and utilized to their fullest potential
Competitive Lab Setup: Set-up and maintain a competitive test lab, including test harness, competitive products, and automation environment
Product Testing: Configure and test competitive products, evaluating their strengths in security efficacy and product features
Customer Focus: Maintain a passion for the customer journey, user experience, and usability with a knack for simplicity
Qualifications
Your Experience
Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Technical Marketing Engineer in the network/cybersecurity field or as a DevOps/Solution Architect, preferably for networking, SD-WAN or cyber security products
Technical Proficiency: Automation experience working with APIs, AI tools, Virtualization, Cloud Infrastructure knowledge: GCP, AWS, Azure, OCI is a big plus
Agility: Ability to deliver high-quality work in an agile, fast-paced environment
Networking Knowledge: Prior experience with networking; cloud security experience is an added advantage
Track Record: Proven track record of creating products from concept to market success.
User Experience Focus: Strong focus on end-user experience and data visualization tools and technologies
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills, and trade show experience. Capable of communicating at both business and technical levels with internal teams, customers, partners, and executives
Customer Advocacy: Strong customer advocacy skills with experience in handling difficult customer situations
Initiative: Fast learner with strong initiative and a sense of ownership, committed to getting things done
Automation Expertise: Experience with automation tools, building dashboards, etc.
Documentation Skills: Experience in writing and editing technical documentation and operational procedures
Knowledge in building and maintaining POC and Demo environments.
Excellent communication, collaboration and presentation skills.
Additional Information
Compensation Disclosure
The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $134,000 - $190,500/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here .
