PSYCHOLOGIST (HEALTH FACILITY - CLINICAL - SAFETY)
Job Description and Duties
This position is located at Coalinga State Hospital.
The Psychologist applies psychological knowledge and techniques to the assessment and treatment of forensic patients, mostly sexual offenders detained or committed pursuant to California Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) Act; conduct wide range of psychological assessments; facilitate psychotherapy groups and individual therapy; construct case formulations; develop and implement treatment plans; lead multidisciplinary treatment team conferences; write progress reports; assist in developing training programs for other staff; and serve as consultants.Ability to provide accurate and complete reports and documentation in accordance with professional standards, hospital documentation polices, and State guidelines.
Ability to provide psychological assessments that are completed timely and address the required specificity of content. **For more information regarding the duties for this particular classification, please refer to the Duty Statement attached to this bulletin**

Working Conditions
The employee
is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout
the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work
locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital. All employees
are required to have an annual health review and repeat health reviews whenever
necessary to ascertain that they are free from symptoms indicating the presence
of infection and are able to safely perform their essential job duties.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Demonstrated ability to maintain professional therapeutic relationships with patients, to assist them with problem solving, and to teach/model principles of the norm of non-violence. Demonstrates good staff/patient boundaries and monitors and assists others to help them maintain theirs.
Adherence to Risk Need Responsivity (RNR) principles; Self-Regulation and Better Lives Integrated Models. Knowledge of the SVP Act and the commitment process, wellness and recovery model, and conditional release placement processes. Demonstrates the ability to develop and implement behavioral guidelines, facilitate sex offender Psychoeducational and Process psychotherapy groups using cognitive behavioral principles, provide coaching on self-regulations techniques.
