Job Description and Duties
The Department of Water Resources (DWR) is recruiting for a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join its SAP Technical Operations unit as an SAP BASIS Administrator. The SAP BASIS Administrator operates independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to provide high-quality support for SAP systems and end-users. This role is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and administration of SAP environments, ensuring system reliability, performance, security, and compliance with organizational standards. The administrator manages user access, monitors system health, performs routine maintenance tasks, and resolves incidents and service requests within established service-level agreements (SLAs).
As an IT Analyst / IT Specialist I, you will join one of the most innovative and forward-thinking IT teams in California state government. You will work alongside experienced SAP BASIS Administrators to support DWR’s enterprise SAP ERP system within a modern, state-of-the-art technology environment.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Knowledge and experience as a System Administrator in preferably SAP ERP or Linux based environment in an enterprise scale application or in a similar environment.
- Knowledge or understanding of Technical Infrastructure concepts and principles.
- Ability to lead, prioritize, troubleshoot, and remediate technical issues related to daily operations.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong self-motivator, critical thinker, enthusiast, competent learner who can lead independently when required and work cohesively with team as an important team member.
- Some familiarity with scripting and automation tools with a desire to learn and grow with an organization.
