The Folsom office is located in Palladio at Broadstone, an upscale shopping destination to a dominant demographic of young families and young professionals. About the Optometric Technician Position:

Our new Optometric Technician will be a welcome addition to our team and family who is both personable and welcoming to our patients. A passion for eyecare and general patient health is essential to providing the best experience we can!

Ideally, the Optometric Technician will have two (2) or more years’ experience in the optical industry. Preference is in either an optical store, optometry or ophthalmology office.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Providing a high-level customer experience.
• Maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor with every patient.
• A smooth patient transition from waiting room to exam room to optical.
• Ability to complete pre-testing procedures:
  • Intake Questions: medical history, family history, medications/allergies, chief complaint.
  • Pre-Testing: autorefractor, OCT, visual field, topography, visual acuity, lensometry, Icare tonometer, confrontation fields, EOMs, cover test.
  • Contact lens training and education.
• Ability to interpret and reiterate doctor recommendations.
• Greeting patients and managing office flow.
• Verify glasses prescription and notification to the patient for dispensing.
• Answering phones, scheduling appointments.

Additional duties outside of Optometric Technician:

• Checking in and out patients for appointments such as:
  • Verify patient forms are completed correctly.
  • Discussing vision insurance benefits in a general overview.
  • Discussing wellness scan options.
  • Collecting copays.
  • Writing up and collecting contact lens orders.
• Scanning documents into EHR.
• Shredding documents.
• Scheduling appointments and making follow-up calls to patients for confirmation.
• Prepare appointments/paperwork/insurance eligibility for next day’s schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The Optometric Technician position will require you to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
