About the Position: We are seeking a veteran Site Safety and Health Supervisor to manage the safety protocols for a major Water Treatment Plant project with the Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD). This is a senior-level role requiring a professional who has managed safety for large-scale facilities (exceeding $50M) and understands the unique hazards of treatment plant construction. You will lead the safety culture on-site, ensuring 100% compliance with SCVWD and Cal/OSHA standards. Key Responsibilities Project Safety Leadership: Direct all health and safety initiatives for a large-scale water treatment plant, maintaining a zero-incident environment. Hazard Analysis: Develop and enforce Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) for complex mechanical and structural tasks. Process-Specific Safety: Oversee safety protocols for specialized treatment plant construction, including confined space entry, chemical system installation, and heavy rigging. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all site activities comply with SCVWD standards, Cal/OSHA Title 8, and environmental regulations. Incident Management: Lead all incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementation of corrective actions. Agency Coordination: Serve as the lead safety liaison for SCVWD inspectors and external regulatory agencies, managing all required safety audits and documentation. Required Qualifications Experience: 15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction safety, with at least 5 years specifically in the construction of water treatment plants. Leadership: 7+ years of experience serving as a Safety Manager on major facilities (e.g., treatment plants or similar industrial builds). Project Scale: Proven experience managing safety for at least two water or wastewater treatment plants, with at least one project valued at over $50 million. Certification: Certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) is strictly required. Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in Cal/OSHA regulations, fall protection, and industrial health standards. Logistics: Ability to work out of the San Jose office and maintain a primary presence at the SCVWD project site. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Certification: CSP (Certified Safety Professional) is a significant plus. District Expertise: Prior experience specifically with Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD) safety reporting and administrative procedures. Specialized Training: Competent Person training in Trenching/Shoring, Confined Space, and Fall Protection.
