Employment Litigation Attorney | San Diego | 3-7+ (DOE)

The firm is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate Attorney with 3-7+ years of experience representing employers in workplace disputes. This role suits attorneys who want more than a supporting role. Associates take on meaningful responsibility and work closely with clients and senior attorneys on active matters.
The practice handles a steady flow of employment matters across a range of industries. Attorneys gain exposure to litigation strategy, client counseling, and dispute resolution while taking increasing ownership of their matters.
POSITION SNAPSHOT
- Location: La Jolla, CA (on-site)
- Compensation: $150,000 - $225,000 base salary, depending on experience + monthly bonus eligibility + comprehensive benefits + profit sharing plan
- Billable Requirement: 1,850 hours annually
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage single-plaintiff employment litigation matters from intake through resolution, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related employment claims in California state and federal courts and before the CRD, EEOC, and Labor Commissioner.
- Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, discovery requests and responses, mediation briefs, and other litigation filings while advising employer clients on strategy and case developments.
- Conduct and defend depositions, manage discovery, coordinate witnesses and experts, and independently handle litigation deadlines and case progression.
- Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, court hearings, arbitrations, and trial preparation, including developing case strategy and resolution recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Active admission to practice law in the State of California.
- Significant employment litigation experience representing employers.
- Strong experience handling employment-related administrative charges and court litigation.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and cases effectively.
- Strong client service and relationship-building skills.
