Hardware Test and Validation Engineer

You are:

What you will be doing:
- This is a hands-on position that requires full time onsite work.
- You should expect to spend most of your time, performing physical work inside labs/Data Centers across the Bay Area, handling mechanical, electronics and electrical equipment.
- Ordering and tracking HW parts.
- Unloading components, inspecting for damage and keeping track of the inventory.
- Physically installing, validating and maintaining Synopsys multi-rack FPGA based emulation hardware at various internal labs and Data Centers: Preparing the racks, Integrating hardware modules into the complete system, performing the cabling, updating the firmware, running the diagnostics and signing off the systems.
- Mounting and validating the new mechanical samples and accessories and providing feedback to enhance the design.
- Occasionally, you might be required to travel to customer sites to support installation and troubleshooting of new systems.
- Packaging tests for production and field use.
- Performing initial analysis of error logs, reviewing, replicating, and responding to internal/external customer issues.
- Working closely with R&D team to analyze the HW failures and defining corrective actions.
- Maintaining accurate data on all hardware activities and providing periodic reports to management.
What we need to see:
- Minimum of 5+ years of related experience in test and validation engineering
- Experience in installing and maintaining hardware equipment having electronic and software components
- Familiarity with manipulating hardware in a Data Center or electronics lab environment
- Basic familiarity and working ability with Linux command line
- Sufficient oral and written English level
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally when needed (less than 20% of the time)
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to 2/3 of the time. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work independently, but as part of a team
What we would be super excited to see:
- Ability to write concise and accurate reports
- Familiarity with Synopsys or similar Hardware Assisted Verification product line like ZeBu Server, ZeBu EP, HAPS
- Experience with Data center power and cooling concepts.
- Scripting language knowledge
- Mechanical/electronics/electrical knowledge
- Previous experience in data centers dealing with racks and cable management
- Experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems
