Position Overview
The Assistant Store Manager partners with the General Manager and Area Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the café while ensuring exceptional guest service, operational excellence, and team development.
This role is responsible for leading by example, coaching and developing team members, driving sales performance, controlling labor and operating costs, maintaining company standards, and creating a positive, high-performing work environment. The Assistant Store Manager serves as a leader on the floor and plays a key role in delivering the Urth Caffé experience every day.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
· Assist in the daily operation of the café to ensure efficient and profitable business performance.
· Lead by example while promoting Urth Caffé's culture, mission, and values.
· Support the General Manager in achieving sales, profitability, labor, and operational goals.
· Delegate responsibilities effectively while holding team members accountable.
· Ensure company policies, procedures, and operational standards are consistently followed.
· Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) when assigned.
Guest Experience
· Deliver exceptional hospitality by ensuring every guest receives friendly, prompt, and professional service.
· Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally.
· Maintain an inviting, clean, and welcoming café environment.
Team Development
· Recruit, train, coach, and develop high-performing team members.
· Conduct ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
· Promote teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
· Assist with scheduling while managing labor costs.
· Support employee recognition and career development initiatives.
Food Quality & Safety
· Ensure all food and beverage items are prepared and served according to Urth Caffé recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
· Train employees on new menu items and operational procedures.
· Maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and health code compliance.
· Ensure equipment is properly maintained and safety procedures are followed.
Financial Management
· Help achieve sales, labor, food cost, beverage cost, and operating expense goals.
· Monitor daily sales performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Assist with inventory management, purchasing, and waste reduction.
· Ensure accurate cash handling procedures and financial controls.
Administrative Responsibilities
· Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
· Ensure compliance with company policies and all local, state, and federal regulations.
· Support audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives.
· Partner with Human Resources on employee relations, safety, and compliance matters.

Qualifications
- 3-5 years of restaurant or hospitality management experience.
- Previous experience leading high-volume restaurant or café operations preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in Hospitality, Business, or related field is a plus.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of required background check and post-offer physical screening.
Preferred
- CPA designation preferred.
- Experience in hospitality, restaurant, retail, or multi-location industry.
- Experience with payroll accounting and inventory accounting is a plus.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
· Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds without assistance.
· Frequently bend, kneel, squat, reach, twist, and climb stairs or ladders.
· Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen and café environments.
· Ability to safely operate restaurant equipment.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and maintain a safe work environment.
