Manager I
Job Description and Duties
This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for an engaging leader to serve as a Manager I, DMV, in the Data Entry Unit (DEU) within the Operations Division, Registration Services Branch. The DEU plays a critical role in delivering essential DMV services by processing mailed vehicle registration and driver license renewal applications, Change of Address forms, Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability forms, Motor Voter updates, document imaging, payment processing, quality assurance activities, and other vehicle record updates. The unit also deposits more than $100 million in revenue each month, making accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork essential to its success. As the frontline manager, you will lead a dedicated team in a fast-paced production environment where your leadership directly impacts service to millions of Californians. You will oversee daily operations, develop and coach team members, monitor performance and quality, resolve operational challenges, and drive continuous improvement efforts. Working Conditions
The position requires work in areas containing industrial mail processing and document imaging equipment, including mail opening machines, mail sorting equipment, high-speed scanners, and industrial vacuum systems. The work environment may involve elevated noise levels and moving mechanical equipment. The incumbent also performs administrative duties in a standard cubicle office setting using a computer and other office equipment for extended periods.
