The Hotel Controller will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting for the five hotels in YHB's current portfolio. This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller and involves managing a team responsible for financial planning and analysis, accounting, internal controls, and compliance. The controller will have a strong background in hotel finance, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting transactions including month end, quarter end and year end closing processes.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the corporation.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and provide analysis to support decision-making.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Conduct periodic reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement.
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Provide guidance on accounting treatments, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
- Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of accounting and regulatory changes affecting the hospitality industry.
- Contribute to the development of financial strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
- Provide insights to support strategic decision-making at the executive level.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA/CMA designation a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance management role, with a focus on hotel or hospitality finance.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulations.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience with financial systems (QuickBooks & M3) and hotel property management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Office365.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
