Job Description and Duties

This position is posted on a 12-month limited term basis with the possibility of being extended up to 24 months or becoming permanent.

Senior Personnel Specialist will be responsible for processing all personnel transactions relating to staff on Workers’ Compensation; and assist with special projects. This position will be responsible for reviewing; interpreting and applying personnel/payroll related laws, rules, regulations, and policies in performing the more complex salary determinations and Personnel Action Request (PAR) documentation. The Senior Personnel Specialist will also serve as technical expert to department employees, supervisors, and managers. The Senior Personnel Specialist will prepare management reports and spreadsheets on personnel/payroll benefits projects. The Senior Personnel Specialist act as the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) Liaison.

Working Conditions

California Correctional Institution is located in the Tehachapi Mountains approximately 325 miles south of Sacramento and approximately 120 miles north of Los Angeles.

CCI is a Multi-level, Sensitive Needs Yard, facility consisting of three (3) facilities, encompassed within a campus style layout with varied terrain. Work in this location may require exposure to varied temperatures dependent upon the season.
