Embedded Audio DSP Firmware Engineer

: Summary Posted: Feb 27, 2024 Role Number: 200538252 The Audio and Media Technologies organization at Apple is seeking a highly motivated engineer to join our Embedded DSP Engineering team. In this role, you will develop software to realize novel audio features on proprietary high-performance embedded processors and optimize system performance to meet audio quality and battery life targets. You will work cross-functionally with hardware, algorithm, application, and QA engineers to bring these features to life in products. The Audio and Media Technologies org in SWE is at the heart of Apple's innovative products, including the Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, AirPods, and Vision Pro. Our work directly impacts the end-user experience through impactful features such as Adaptive Noise Control, Conversation Awareness, FaceTime, Siri, media playback, and Conversation Boost, to name just a few. Key Qualifications

• Deep understanding of DSP fundamentals, preferably in audio (speech enhancement, noise cancellation/reduction, media processing, sample rate conversion.)
• Excellent C/C++ coding skills
• Experience realizing audio/DSP/real-time features and applications
• Experience with development and debug of audio issues on HW platforms
• Ability to problem-solve independently and collaborate effectively with people from various disciplines
3+ years of relevant work experience

Description We are looking for someone who can help us realize new low-power/high-compute audio DSP features in Apple's products. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing signal processing algorithms on programmable HW. You will write unit tests and integration tests to enable comprehensive testing and validation of your software. You will work cross-functionally with Acoustics experts, algorithm engineers, DSP software engineers, audio driver developers, and HW engineers to integrate these features into real-time audio subsystems while solving audio fidelity and performance issues along the way. Education & Experience BS/MS in EE or CS Additional Requirements

• Excellent Python skills are a plus
Experience with audio test and measurement equipment and methodologies is a plus

Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $131,500.00 and $243,300.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
