Job Description and Duties

PARK INTERPRETIVE SPECIALIST (SEASONAL) – BAY AREA DISTRICT / CANDLESTICK POINT STATE RECREATION AREA

The reporting location for this position is Candlestick Point State Recreation Area in San Francisco, CA. This position will work under the supervision of the Staff Park and Recreation Specialist and/or designee.

Spearhead the creation of a new California Naturalist program for the San Francisco Bay Area. Primary duties include researching, developing, certifying, and leading a California Naturalist course that highlights native flora and fauna and combines online course delivery with environmental stewardship and field trips to Bay Area State Parks.

The work week schedule for this position is flexible. Must be willing to work weekend or evening assignments as needed.

This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Working Conditions

Bend, stoop, lift, sit, and stand for a long period of time.

Walk distances on uneven surfaces often outdoors in all types of weather.

Lift up to 25 pounds.
