Automotive Drivability and Electrical Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled GM Dealer Drivability Technician to join our service team. In this role, you will act as our premier diagnostic specialist, troubleshooting complex engine performance, advanced electrical, and emission-related issues. You will utilize GM factory-specific software and strategy-based diagnostic processes to ensure accurate, first-time fixes for our customers.
Core Responsibilities
- Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize GM-specific tools (GDS2, Tech 2, MDI 2) and service information (SI) to isolate root causes of complex electrical, drivability, and emissions issues.
- System Repairs: Repair and replace components in fuel injection, ignition, computer-controlled electronics, multiplexing/data bus, and powertrain systems.
- Road Testing: Perform target-driven road tests to duplicate customer complaints and verify that repairs completely resolve the issue.
- Technical Compliance: Monitor and apply GM Service Technical Bulletins (TBs), recalls, and campaign updates to relevant repairs.
- Documentation & Communication: Clearly document diagnostic steps, test results, and repair recommendations on the repair order. Communicate clearly with Service Advisors.
- Shop Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Adhere to all dealership and OSHA safety protocols.
