JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Centralized Medical Authorizations Specialist and Front Desk Coverage personnel. This position primarily involves handling medical authorizations remotely and providing front desk coverage at our UCLA and USC Verdugo Hills Wound Care clinics when required. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
This is a remote position with occasional on-site requirements at our Los Angeles and Glendale clinics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning of medical authorizations and front desk operations, ensuring exceptional patient care and administrative efficiency.
This is a Part Time position with possible opportunities to become full-time in the near future.
KEY JOB AREA: TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
REMOTE MEDICAL AUTHORIZATIONS:
- Review and process medical authorization requests received from healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for requested services.
- Communicate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to obtain necessary documentation and information for authorization approval.
- Ensure all medical authorizations are processed accurately and within specified timeframes.
- Maintain detailed records of all authorizations and related correspondence.
FRONT DESK COVERAGE:
- Provide coverage at the outpatient clinic's front desk when required, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment for patients and visitors.
- Greet patients, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient registration, and update patient information in the electronic medical records system.
- Collect and process patient payments, including insurance co-pays and deductibles.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and address any administrative needs
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT::
- Assist with general administrative tasks, such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents.
- Collaborate with the clinic's administrative team to maintain efficient operations and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of authorization processes and front desk protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Proven experience in medical authorizations, insurance verification, or related administrative roles.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance plans, and authorization processes.
- Proficient in using various electronic medical records (EMR) systems, insurance platforms, and other relevant software applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in processing authorizations and managing front desk tasks.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, demonstrating self-motivation and time management skills.
- Flexibility to provide front desk coverage at the outpatient clinic when needed.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus in accordance with Federal CDC and State/Local regulatory guidance.
