Deliver Driver

Job Summary:

A Delivery Driver transports packages, goods, food, or other items from a warehouse, distribution center, restaurant, or store to customer locations (homes or businesses). They ensure timely, safe, and damage-free deliveries while providing excellent customer service. Delivery drivers follow assigned routes, adhere to traffic and safety regulations, and often handle loading/unloading and basic record-keeping.

This role suits reliable, safety-conscious individuals with strong navigation skills and a customer-focused attitude. Positions range from part-time (e.g., food delivery) to full-time (e.g., package or truck delivery).

Key Responsibilities:

• Load, organize, secure, and unload items from the delivery vehicle while following safety and lifting protocols.
• Plan and follow efficient delivery routes using GPS, maps, or company software, while adjusting for traffic or other conditions.
• Deliver items safely, on time, and in excellent condition to the correct addresses.
• Provide excellent customer service: interact courteously, obtain signatures, collect payments if required, and resolve minor issues or complaints.
• Inspect and maintain the delivery vehicle (pre-trip checks, basic cleaning, reporting issues).
• Verify orders for accuracy, completeness, and condition before and after delivery.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, mileage, and delivery documentation.
• Comply with all traffic laws, DOT regulations (if applicable), and company safety policies.
• Assist with warehouse or stock duties as needed in some roles.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (requirements vary by employer and vehicle type).
• Reliable transportation (sometimes a personal vehicle for smaller deliveries, with insurance proof).
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and handle physical demands.
• Good navigation and time-management skills; familiarity with GPS/apps is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent (often preferred but not always required).
• Age minimum (typically 18-21+, depending on the company and vehicle).
• Pass background check, drug screening, and sometimes a driving test.
• Customer service experience and a professional, friendly demeanor are highly valued.
• For larger trucks: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required.

Preferred Skills :

• Prior delivery or logistics experience.
• Knowledge of local roads.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays for food/grocery roles).
