A growing, investment-focused organization in the real estate / asset management sector is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to step in and provide leadership and stability within its accounting function during a transitional period. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role overseeing a small but capable team and ensuring accurate, audit-ready financial reporting in a complex multi-entity environment. About the Opportunity The organization operates across a multi-entity structure and is looking for a seasoned accounting leader to help maintain continuity, strengthen processes, and drive reporting accuracy . You will partner closely with an existing accounting team and provide guidance during a period of change. Key Responsibilities Oversee the preparation of audit-ready, GAAP-compliant financial statements Ensure accurate and timely month-end and period-end close processes Manage and review consolidations across multiple legal entities Maintain and strengthen intercompany accounting processes Support audit readiness and financial reporting quality Provide hands-on leadership to a team of accounting professionals Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies Required Qualifications Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader in a complex environment Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation Experience with multi-entity consolidations and intercompany accounting Background in audit support and financial reporting Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field Preferred Qualifications Experience within real estate, REITs, or investment management environments Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, Dynamics GP, etc.) Experience managing large, multi-entity structures (50 entities) Demonstrated success in stabilizing and optimizing accounting operations Strong leadership skills, with a focus on team development and process improvement Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
