Brokerage Platform teams build and operate distributed systems that power trading, market data, clearing and accounting - the core building blocks powering nearly every Robinhood product - Crypto, Derivatives, Options, Equities, Retirement, Legend to name a few! These teams create platforms that enable product teams to ship really fast - while making sure the APIs and systems are reliable, high-throughput and low latency. These systems are at the heart of what enables Robinhood to offer amazing products and services to millions of customers every day. .

As a Software Engineer on Brokerage Platform, you will leverage the latest AI models to design, build and operate distributed systems that are force multipliers for Robinhood’s products.. You’ll work closely with engineers across infrastructure and product teams to deliver reliable services, improve performance and scalability, and ensure financial and data correctness across high-volume operations. This role is well-suited for engineers who want to be at the forefront of technology, leveraging AI to build complex distributed platforms at scale.

Core areas within Brokerage Platform include:

• Core Trading & Order Routing: Builds and maintains the end-to-end order lifecycle, from submission through routing and execution, with a focus on low latency, reliability, and operational control.


• Market Data Platform: Powers prices, quotes, fundamentals, market events, and streaming data used across the Robinhood app, enabling product teams to launch features that rely on accurate, timely market information.


• Clearing, Accounting & Ledger Systems: Owns clearing workflows and internal ledgers to ensure trade settlement, tax accounting and reporting, account transfers, interest accrual, regulatory compliance, and daily market operations.


• Brokerage Infrastructure & Performance: Focuses on scalability, reliability, and performance of the core brokerage systems, including infrastructure-level improvements and major platform modernization efforts.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA office with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do

• You’ll learn and use the latest and most advanced AI models to build platforms at the heart of for financial systems


• You’ll design, build, and maintain backend services that support trading, market data, clearing, or brokerage infrastructure at scale.


• You’ll write production-quality code with a focus on reliability, performance, and clear operational behavior in distributed systems.


• You’ll partner with engineers across infrastructure and product teams to deliver stable platforms and well-defined APIs.


• You’ll participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations to help keep critical systems healthy and resilient


• You’ll improve existing systems by addressing performance bottlenecks, scaling constraints, and operational risks.

What you bring

• You are a power user of frontier LLM models and very passionate about leveraging AI to build everything at scale


• You have professional experience building and operating backend systems using languages such as Go, Java, Kotlin, or similar.


• You’re comfortable working with distributed real-time and data processing systems, data pipelines, service-oriented architectures in production environments.


• You approach problems methodically, balancing correctness, performance, and maintainability.


• You communicate clearly in technical discussions and value thoughtful design and peer feedback.


• You’re motivated by working on systems where reliability and data accuracy directly affect customer trust.

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

$157,000 - $185,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$139,000 - $163,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)

$122,000 - $144,000 USD
