Assistant Professor - Developmental and Stem Cell Biology (Cedars-Sinai Research Scientist I)
The Department of Pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s is R to join a new Center specializing in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology. This is a faculty appointment within the Cedars-Sinai Professorial Series intended for investigators pursuing independent research programs.
The Center focuses on understanding fundamental principles of development and regeneration using both animal models and human tissue, and is a central element of the growth of Guerin Children’s. Faculty within the Center will work in close partnership with the Regenerative Medicine Institute, Departments of Computational Biomedicine and Biomedical Sciences, and other relevant units on campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree
- Demonstrated record of research in developmental biology, stem cell biology, regeneration, or related field with evidence of scholarly productivity through first- and/or senior-author publications
- Eligible for appointment as an Assistant Professor in the CSMC Professorial Series
- Commitment to graduate education, trainee mentoring, and collaborative research

Examples include investigating how high-fat diets may promote liver cancer as well as the effects of near weightlessness on iPSCs in conjunction with NASA, connections among diabetes and chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, and the genetic underpinnings of disease, exploiting the potential of stem cells, leveraging nanotechnology, parsing big data, and assessing how gender and metabolism impact health. During the last five years, Cedars-Sinai has doubled its federal awards.

Cedars’ robust technology transfer program totaled $12.37 million in fiscal year 2025. In addition, 92 invention disclosures were received, 98 patents on technologies were filed, and 72 patents issued. Net income from the technology transfer program is reinvested in research.

Our compensation philosophy:
We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The pay range shown takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors. This base pay range does not include our comprehensive benefits package and any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role.
Pay Range: $71,094 - $235,019 Base Compensation
