Senior Accountant

Job Purpose: 

Under general supervision, the Senior Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate general ledger postings and reconciliations and assists in the day-to-day activities of accounting operations including prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable, and payroll functions. The Senior Accountant supports the monthly consolidation of multiple entity financial reporting and regulatory reports. This position reports to the VP Assistant Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : 

• Prepare journal entries; maintain, balance, and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts for selected asset and accrual accounts.
• Performs various day-to-day accounting activities and control functions dealing with cash, investments, fixed assets, leases, prepaids and miscellaneous accounts according to established procedures, systems, and practices.
• Assists in preparation of parent holding company accounting records involving a variety of transactions and accounts.
• Assists in the day-to-day activities of the accounts payable function.
• Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual Board, financial and regulatory reporting.
• Supports preparation of various analytical reports and information.
• Prepares documentation of desktop procedures, and standard operating procedures.
• Prepares daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations.
• Trains and provides back-up for accounting staff.
• Assists with auditors/examiners requests on year-end audit, internal audits, and periodic examinations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• CPA preferred, but not required.
• 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in public accounting preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office products, specifically Excel, and accounting software programs. FIS, AvidXchange (BankTel) and BlackLine experience is a plus, but not required.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• High initiative, organized with keen attention to detail.
• Problem solving mindset.
• Able to handle confidential information appropriately. Ability to work with team members across the organization.

Work Conditions:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, occasionally lift one to fifteen pounds.
• Working Conditions are in office.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Training:  Must complete all required mandatory and regulatory training.
