If so, the CDFW's License and Revenue Branch (LRB) is looking for you!

LRB has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader with leadership and communication skills while also having years of management or supervisory experience. Under administrative direction of the Assistant Deputy Director of Fiscal Operations, the Manager II serves in a management capacity with leadership and administrative responsibilities in charge of the License and Revenue Branch (LRB) and oversees the statewide policy, support, and customer service/technical aspects of issuing more than 860 licenses, permits, stamps, and tags; collection of $140 million in revenue annually, consistent with statutory and regulatory requirements; and providing technical information to customers, cooperative partners, and internal and external stakeholders.

Personal Leave Program: Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions ranging from 2% to 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) hours. This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Beginning July 1, 2026, employees will be required to work in-person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25. Additional in-office days may be required based on operational needs.

Working Conditions

Requires the use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse for several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Occasional day and/or overnight travel up to 5% may be required within and/or outside the State of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, bus, plane, etc.) to participate in trainings and meetings.

• Ability to analyze complex operational, personnel, policy, and customer service issues and take effective action in situations involving ambiguity, sensitivity, or risk.

• Ability to lead change and guide implementation of new processes, modernization efforts, or operational improvements through subordinate management teams.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief, advise, and build trust with executive leadership, internal partners, external stakeholders, and the public.

• Experience participating in stakeholder groups (internal and/or external) representing an entity or position, conveying information or requirements, and answering questions.

• Experience using various third party software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Adobe or Foxit; web browsers and search engines; and databases to enter, store, update, and extract information.

• Enthusiasm, personal drive, initiative, and willingness to learn and accept new challenges.

• Ability to multitask, self-motivation, attention to detail, and organization.

• Experience applying and communicating laws, rules, policies, and/or procedures.
