Summary of Key Responsibilities:
The Outreach & Student Engagement Specialist serves as a peer leader and outreach representative helping to increase awareness visibility and engagement with ASUCLAs wide range of programs services and resources. Specialists act as the bridge between students and ASUCLA by highlighting opportunities mobilizing participation and fostering a strong sense of belonging.
This role is ideal for students who are outgoing connected to campus life and passionate about helping peers succeed academically socially and professionally.
- Outreach & Engagement: Represent ASUCLA in classrooms student organizations orientations and campus events. Serve as a resource guide by sharing information about ASUCLA programs services and spaces. Actively connect with students through tabling peer-to-peer conversations and digital platforms. Develop and implement outreach strategies to promote ASUCLA programs and services to the UCLA community ensuring broad awareness of resources and opportunities.
- Awareness & Visibility : Highlight ASUCLA offerings through student stories and creative messaging in collaboration with the Marketing Department. Distribute promotional materials and maintain strong campus visibility for ASUCLA. Emphasize ASUCLAs role as a student family reinforcing that all students are part of the community.
- Mobilization & Activations : Support turnout efforts for ASUCLA events referenda and initiatives by encouraging student participation. Develop and implement mobilization strategies such as peer reminders digital outreach and community circles. Create campaigns and opportunities to encourage student participation in Student Union programs services and activities aligning outreach with student interests and needs.
- Workshops & Peer Education : Facilitate workshops and presentations introducing ASUCLA services and resources. Collaborate with faculty and staff to deliver presentations in classrooms and academic departments.
- Leadership & Representation : Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism inclusivity and strong communication. Provide peer feedback to ASUCLA leadership to inform future services and programming. Participate in required training team meetings and leadership development activities. Serve as a bridge between ASUCLA GSA USAC Student Media Graduate Academic Councils RCOs and campus department partners by supporting joint initiatives amplifying messaging and fostering collaboration.
- Program & Project Support : Contribute to special projects aligned with ASUCLAs mission. Build and lead a volunteer peer pool of AS Ambassadors who will serve as student representatives to help saturate the UCLA campus with awareness efforts ensuring consistent messaging and engagement across diverse student groups. Collect student feedback track outreach impact and provide insights and recommendations to improve engagement strategies.
Qualifications: Currently enrolled UCLA undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable speaking with peers and presenting to groups. Enthusiastic approachable and passionate about student engagement. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently on assigned projects. Familiarity with ASUCLA programs
services or commitment to learning about them quickly. Prior experience in leadership student organizations peer mentoring or outreach is a plus. Time Commitment flexible 812 hours per week including occasional evenings and weekends.
Supervises: Undergraduate and Graduate Student Ambassadors serving as UCLA Volunteers
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift carry and set up marketing supplies SWAG and event materials. Moving and arranging tables chairs or display items for outreach and engagement events. Standing walking or tabling for extended periods during events and campus activities.
