Private Equity & Venture Capital Professional for AI Model Training
Help advance frontier AI models by bringing professional finance judgment to the evaluation, design, and improvement of real-world financial work. Role Overview
You will work directly with an AI lab''s research and program management teams to improve how advanced AI models reason about finance. This role calls for a practicing finance specialist who can distinguish rigorous analysis from plausible but flawed answers and translate professional standards into clear evaluation criteria.
Key Responsibilities- Review finance knowledge-work tasks and model outputs, identifying missing behaviors, weak reasoning, flawed assumptions, and responses that would not withstand professional scrutiny.
- Write detailed instruction specifications and golden solutions that establish correct approaches to financial problems.
- Create new finance tasks that reflect real-world practice.
- Design challenging finance benchmarks and evaluation sets to measure model improvement.
- Partner with researchers and adjacent-domain specialists to develop finance-specific skills and tools and maintain consistent standards.
- Convert tacit financial judgment into explicit, teachable criteria.
- At least 5 years of substantive, dedicated professional finance experience at a recognized institution, such as an investment bank, asset manager, private equity or credit fund, Big Four firm, large corporate finance function, or financial regulator. Roles with only peripheral finance exposure do not qualify.
- Specialization in at least one core finance discipline, including corporate finance and FP&A, investment banking and M&A, asset or wealth management, private equity or private credit, quantitative finance and risk management, treasury, or accounting and audit.
- Progression to a senior individual-contributor or leadership role with ownership of analysis and decisions, such as Vice President, Director, Principal, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, Controller, or CFO.
- Advanced degree, such as an MBA, MS, or PhD in finance, economics, accounting, or a quantitative field, and/or a recognized credential such as CFA, CPA, FRM, or an actuarial designation, strongly preferred.
- Hands-on use of large language models in professional work and the judgment to assess whether an answer is well reasoned or merely plausible.
- Excellent written communication and the ability to deliver precise, structured feedback.
- Full-time W-2 employment, with placement on an AI lab''s extended workforce.
- Initial engagement of 6 months, with a reliable commitment of 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid position based in the Bay Area, California. You must work on-site with the client team multiple days per week when required; this is not a remote role.
- Client-issued accounts and equipment will be provided, and work will be completed in the client''s tools alongside research teams.
$110 to $150 per hour.
Eligibility- You must live in the Bay Area, California, or relocate there at your own expense before the engagement begins. Relocation assistance is not available.
- Qualified applicants are considered without regard to legally protected characteristics. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans during the application process.
Apply through the opportunity channel. The employing organization manages employment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and compliance for the role.
