About the Position: We are seeking a high-level Superintendent to oversee a major Water Treatment Plant project for the Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD). This is a specialized leadership role requiring a deep technical background in large-capacity treatment facilities (25+ MGD). You will manage the full scope of construction, ensuring that complex mechanical, electrical, and structural systems are integrated seamlessly while meeting the rigorous standards of the SCVWD. Key Responsibilities Project Site Leadership: Direct all field operations for the construction and upgrade of water treatment facilities, ensuring work aligns with SCVWD specifications. Complex System Integration: Oversee the installation of large-scale treatment processes, including filtration, disinfection, and chemical feed systems. Capacity Management: Ensure all construction means and methods are optimized for high-capacity facilities (25 MGD and above). Schedule & Budget Control: Manage project timelines and resource allocation to prevent disruptions; coordinate daily with Project Managers to track progress against the baseline. Safety & Quality Enforcement: Champion a zero-incident safety culture on-site and ensure all work passes rigorous quality inspections and testing protocols. Agency Liaison: Serve as the primary field contact for SCVWD inspectors, ensuring transparency and compliance with all municipal and state regulations. Required Qualifications Experience: 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years specifically dedicated to the construction of water treatment plants. Specialized Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction of water and/or wastewater treatment plants with a capacity of at least 25 MGD (Million Gallons per Day). Leadership Tenure: At least 5 years of experience serving as a General Superintendent on a major facility construction project. Contractor Background: Proven track record working directly for a general contractor in a supervisory capacity. Logistics: Ability to work out of the San Jose office and manage local project sites effectively. Preferred Qualifications District Knowledge: Prior experience managing projects specifically for the Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD) or similar large-scale California utility districts. Technical Certifications: Specialized certifications in mechanical piping, concrete structures, or high-voltage electrical systems relevant to treatment plants.
