Business Service Officer I (Supervisor)
Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Supervisor II, the Business Services Officer I Supervisor (BSO I Sup) is responsible for the Mail & Reprographic Services Unit (MRSU), which provides a multitude of customer services to the California Lottery (Lottery). The BSO I Sup plans, organizes, and directs the daily operations of the MRSU, which provides critical mail, courier, reprographic, and customer support services to the Lottery. The incumbent supervises staff, oversees operational workflows, ensures compliance with postal regulations and departmental policies, and performs technical duties requiring specialized knowledge of mail processing and reprographic equipment. The position is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and secure processing of incoming and outgoing materials while maintaining a high level of customer service.

This position is headquartered at the Sacramento Headquarters. This position is not eligible for telework.

Working Conditions
- Schedule: Core business hours are between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Adjustments to core business hours may be required due to business operations such as working overtime in the event of special projects or other business-related needs.
- Travel: Occasional local travel may be required for operational support, vendor meetings, training, or courier-related activities.
- Other: The BSO I Sup must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Special Requirements
- The California State Lottery Act provides that no person may be hired as an employee of the Commission if that person has been convicted of a felony or any gambling related offense.
- This position requires a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
- This position requires a California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application including providing your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in reprographics and mailroom equipment, supporting business service operations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience engaging staff at various organizational levels to facilitate business processes.
- Proven organizational skills applied to assignments in business services, purchasing, or fiscal management.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, utilized in business operations and process improvement.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in analytical and technical tasks related to business service functions.
- Experience delivering customer service within a business services or government environment.
- Effective use of time management and scheduling tools (such as Outlook and SharePoint) to coordinate and prioritize business activities.
- Ability to delegate tasks efficiently to support team objectives and operational effectiveness.
- Openness to sharing ideas and embracing new approaches to enhance business processes and service delivery.
