NICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Length: 17 weeks (September 8, 2025 – January 5, 2026)
• Healthcare Setting: Level III/IV NICU at a leading pediatric hospital
• Nursing Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required (first to float to Pediatrics, PICU, or CVICU)
• Start Date: September 8, 2025 (or September 22, 2025 at the latest)
• End Date: January 5, 2026 (must continue into January)
• Holiday Coverage: Traveler may request one of the three major holidays
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000 - $2050 per week

NICU RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent NICU nursing experience in a pediatric hospital
• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand at time of submission)
• BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Proven experience with ventilator management (2-3 shifts/week)
• Pre/Post-op surgical care, tracheostomy care, central lines, IV drips, and small baby care
• Ability to float to Pediatrics, PICU, or CVICU as needed
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record system preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Two recent references (Supervisor level or above, within 1 year of start or most recent employer)
• Must reside more than 50 miles from facility (locals not accepted)

NICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical care to neonates and infants with conditions such as prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hyperbilirubinemia, cardiac and surgical emergencies
• Operate advanced neonatal equipment: oscillator ventilators, conventional vents, bubble CPAP, NIPPV (no Jet vents)
• Perform specialized NICU procedures: central line care, tracheostomy management, blood product administration, phototherapy, and neonatal medication dosage calculations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to Pediatrics, PICU, or CVICU as required to provide clinical support
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner EHR system
• Participate in self-scheduling and adhere to patient ratios (1:3 nights/weekends)
