Hotel Dining Host (Open Availability)

Job Summary Our dynamic Hospitality Team strives to create a pleasurable dining experience for all guests and prides itself on exceptional food quality and outstanding customer service.
Under the direction of the Hotel Food & Beverage Supervisor, the Hotel Dining Host provides pleasant, efficient guest service while seating guests in the restaurants, taking guests' food orders and collecting payment for services rendered.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Help create a remarkable guest experience by providing exceptional service to every patron by engaging and interacting with them in a cordial and professional manner.
- Provide timely service in a courteous manner to all guests; cordially acknowledge guests and take their orders utilizing up-selling techniques.
- Responsible for the cash register to receive payment from and give change to guests.
- Count down the cash register at the end of the shift and bags the money. Deliver money bag and transaction report (ran by your supervisor) to the Cash Machine for counting and verification, upon completion locate a Supervisor to run a reset.
- Ensure that the register area is always kept clean and safe. Assist in the clean-up of work area.
- Enter all food and beverage items into the Squirrel (POS) system. Properly learn the fundamentals of the POS systems.
- Must pass service standards, food, liquor, wine, beer, and alcohol awareness and point of sales tests with scores of 90% or better, before working solo shift: then periodic quizzes and tests thereafter.
- Coordinate seating and activities of the dining room to provide fast and courteous service to guests. Maintain knowledge of daily specials.
- Must answer the phone by the third ring in a professional and cordial manner.
- Seat guests and make sure to rotate among servers always taking guest requests into consideration.
- Ensure tabletops are clean and organized prior to seating guests.
- Assist dining servers whenever possible with pre-bussing, beverages and refills, and expediting food orders.
- Communicate with servers, that their tables have been seated.
- Arrange tables for large groups and provide special services upon request, i.e. birthdays, anniversaries.
- Inspect dining room tables for cleanliness before seating guests, i.e. clean ashtrays, chair seats and floors.
- Take room service orders.
- Assist with special projects as directed by the manager including monthly meetings, special banquets, concerts, and special guests.
- Notify immediate supervisor of any problems and or concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization & preparedness of immediate workspace and adjacent areas and assists team members when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum two (2) year host/cashier experience in a high-volume entertainment bar restaurant with high quality food, preferred.
- Must have good basic mathematical skills to effectively manage guests' payments.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must present a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in a company issued work uniform in accordance with departmental policy.
- Must be comfortable in a public and entertainment setting.
- Must be comfortable engaging with guests in a courteous and professional manner.
- Must follow and maintain the Hotel Service Excellence Standards.
- Demonstrate ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
- Must provide unexpired, Right To Work documents such as a valid social security card, a U.S. birth certificate, U.S. citizen ID Card, a resident citizen ID card, a U.S. passport, or employment authorization documents issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
- Must hold or obtain within 90 days of employment and maintain throughout employment a Food Handler's Card and the RBS Training and ABC Alcohol Server Certification.
