Job Description and Duties

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Disability Determination Service Division (DDSD) is seeking an individual with strong leadership and communication skills to perform all aspects of Personnel services within the Los Angeles Disability Determination Service Division Branch.

The Attendance Coordinator (AC) is responsible for accurate recording of attendance for all employees in the DDS branch. The AC also controls and follows-up on probationary and annual performance reports. Processes Merit Salary Adjustment (MSA) forms. Prepares and maintains personnel files. Maintains up-to-date employee information (e.g., addresses, phone numbers, emergency notification information, etc.). Does weekly staffing reports and prepares monthly employee time reports for Central Support Services Branch (CSSB). The AC assists employees with health benefit issues, SDI and NDI, and other compensation issues. Assists employees with requests for changes to personal information, e.g., name, address, telephone number, federal/state tax deductions, and beneficiary designee(s). Assists employees with employment transfers, terminations, leaves cif absence and retirements. Makes and/or submits additions/changes to the telephone rosters for the Branch/Division/Department. Provides reception, telephone and security coverage for Branch. Prepares PS 222s and other hiring documents. Photocopies and distributes policy/procedural issuances and other correspondence.

Working Conditions

This work location is in the city of El Segundo, CA, with many restaurants and shopping areas within walking distance. The building has easy access to 1-105 and 1-405, transit routes and the Los Angeles International Airport.

Telework / Remote Work Information: This position has been designated as eligible for telework. The position may require in-person attendance when requested.
This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. For positions advertised in more than one location, headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

This position requires Federal fingerprint clearance and background check. Criminal record checks of prospective full- or part-time COSS, Disability Determination Service Division (DDSD) personnel will be conducted. Applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints for Federal processing. Federal clearance is a condition of employment for this position. (Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12).

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to the appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
