Docketing Specialist
The Docketing Specialist will maintain accurate legal calendars, tracking deadlines, and providing service to attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update docketing calendars and databases for litigation, and other legal matters.
- Enter, review, and manage deadlines in legal calendaring/docket system (CompuLaw or similar).
- Research and apply federal, state, and jurisdiction-specific court rules and judicial preferences to determine deadlines.
- Generate, proofread, and send out docket reports.
- Ensure data accuracy by reviewing case records, entering new matters, and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain docket confirmations and supporting documentation.
- Recommend process improvements and support docketing best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with legal staff while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of docketing experience in a law firm environment.
- Knowledge of federal and state court rules, legal calendaring, and litigation procedures.
- Experience with Microsoft Office required - CompuLaw, PACER, iManage or similar software highly desired
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
- Customer-service oriented, detail-focused, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
