Head of Product
: Job Purpose Honda's New Business Ventures organization has an opening for a Head of Product. The innovation lab is designed to develop new and unique business ventures for Honda. The specific position will be supporting a team that is tasked with developing and launching a new business venture in the digital / App marketplace.
Head of Product develops and drives the product vision and strategy. The Head of Product represents the voice of the customer and a key member of the leadership team through a deep understanding of the target market/industry and close relationships with key stakeholders. Owns definition of the product vision, business strategy related to the product and roadmap, provides continuous feedback to product and tech teams, and helps teams to follow through on the product vision and roadmap. The Head of Product's primary responsibility is to ensure customer centricity and that the team knows what they are expected to build at the right level of detail.
Key Accountabilities- Define the overall product vision and drive the roadmap and backlog
- Oversee the P&L of the product to look to drive improvements in top-line growth while managing expenses to deliver product offering efficiently
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with all key stakeholders (internally across all departments and externally with users, partners, etc.)
- Determine and track critical KPIs to monitor performance and inform priorities for product improvements
- Monitor and track industry trends to identify critical insights to inform our product offering
- Effectively mobilize and coordinate product delivery and execution across all key departments (technology, marketing, operations, finance, etc.) to ensure exceptional execution and effective teaming
- Works closely with the GM to establish each product's business value and support messaging, communication, and customer outreach as necessary
- Define and drive an effective agile process for the business' operating model
- Building an ecosystem of automotive DIYers, maintenance technicians, and other key stakeholders
- Will help leverage Honda's installed base to accelerate into market
- Manage product delivery to achieve critical milestones within expected timelines - proactively identifying and mitigating risks while rapidly solving issues
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or related field
- Masters/Graduate degree in accounting, finance, economics, OR business administration preferred
- 8+ years of Product Management experience
- 5+ years of experience leading other leaders as direct reports
- Proven knowledge and understanding of standard Product Management practices, technology and supporting industry principles
- Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams from tech, design, and business
- Experience with B2C product delivery, platform marketplaces and/or digital products, auto experience a bonus
- Preference for knowledge of the automotive after sales service industry (i.e., terms, practices, and procedures)
- Preference for understanding of automotive digital products for customers
- Experienced in facilitating agile ceremonies, managing a backlog/release plan, tracking team level metrics, removing blockers (burndown chart, release burn up, etc.)
- Deep experience leading with teams in an agile setting, has worked with engineering or cross functional digital teams
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams, set clear goals and objectives, and ensure that the product development process stays on track
- Proven leader, collaborator, team player, and individual contributor
- Strong communication skills with comfort engaging with leaders at all levels - from C-level to front-line workers
- Exceptional problem solver with ability to manage and lead the team to push the solution and progress
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions, including identifying opportunities for improving the product development process and implementing new approaches when appropriate - willing to test and learn
- Ability to manage competing priorities across stakeholders and constraints (time, budget, scope)
- Passion to challenge the status quo and find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas - enjoys ad embraces change
