Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Molecular NGS - Invitae

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in San Francisco, CA for our Invitae molecular genetics lab!

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 3:00pm-11:30pm

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing high-complexity diagnostic testing on patient specimens across various molecular assays and platforms for Invitae, part of Labcorp

• Performs clinical laboratory specimen handling, processing, testing, analysis, and records maintenance according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)

• Identifies any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and escalates these to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolution

• Assists with quality control and quality assurance activities

• Maintains appropriate laboratory supplies and inventory

• Prepares reagents and performs instrument maintenance

• Oversees Laboratory Technicians performing clinical activities (in accordance with state regulations)

• Participates in trainings and competency assessments of other technologists

• Participates in verification and validation studies for process improvements, new equipment, and new technology transfer

• Maintains a safe work environment and wears appropriate personal protective equipment

• Participates in continuing education credits

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology

• California state issued Clinical Lab Scien tist (CLS) Generalist license or California Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License (CGMBS)

Preferred Qualifications:

• California state issued CGMBS license

• 2 or more years experience working as a CLS or Medical Technologist

• 1 or more years experience working in a clinical molecular biology lab performing DNA sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or high-complexity molecular techniques

• 6 months experience or more using liquid handlers

• Proficient with computers

• Familiarity with laboratory information systems

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

**Pay Range: $50.00 - $66.26 per hour

Plus 2nd shift differential

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
