Rooms Operations Supervisor

Primary Objective:
The Rooms Operations Supervisor is responsible for supporting and supervising the daily operations of the Front Office and Housekeeping departments to ensure an efficient, professional, and guest-focused operation.
Essential Responsibilities

Rooms Operations & Interdepartmental Coordination
  • Supervise the daily coordination of Front Office and Housekeeping operations to ensure guestrooms have been cleaned by performing and focusing on daily inspections then made available according to occupancy and arrival needs.
  • Coordinate room readiness to support timely check-ins and maximize room availability.
  • Identify and report room discrepancies, safety concerns, maintenance issues, and operational problems to management.
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to support guest and operational needs.
Front Office Supervision
  • Supervise and support Front Office employees during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure Front Office employees follow hotel policies, procedures, service standards, and guest service expectations.
  • Assist with daily staffing, scheduling, meal and rest break coverage, and operational needs.
  • Provide coaching and direction for Front Office employees as needed.
  • Assist Front Office employees with guest questions, requests, and complaints and escalate significant issues to management.
  • Monitor arrivals, departures, room assignments, room changes, VIPs, and special requests.
  • Maintain knowledge of hotel rooms, amenities, services, rates, and local attractions.
  • Ensure shift responsibilities are completed before the end of each shift and report to management if any changes, challenges or issues arise and need to be passed on.

Housekeeping Supervision
  • Works closely with the Director of Housekeeping to provide hotel guests with superior rooms and quality cleaning.
  • Supervise the daily activities of housekeeping employees, including Room Attendants, House attendants and Lobby Attendants.
  • Review room assignments and monitor progress to ensure rooms are cleaned according to operational priorities in support of the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Inspect guestrooms to ensure cleanliness, condition, and hotel standards are met.
  • Personally inspect VIP and priority rooms and ensure special requests are completed before arrival.
  • Monitor checkout and stayover rooms and communicate room status with Front Office.
  • Re-prioritize rooms based on arrivals, departures, VIPs, early arrivals, room changes, and guest requests.
  • Monitor linen, cleaning supplies, guest amenities, and equipment and report shortages or maintenance concerns to the Housekeeping Director.
  • Monitor housekeeping carts, linen closets, and work areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained and report any issues to the Housekeeping Director.
  • Ensure Lost & Found items are handled according to hotel procedures.
Guest Service & Issue Resolution
  • Provide professional and courteous service to guests at all times.
  • Take ownership of guest requests and complaints within the authority of the position.
  • Assist with service recovery and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Handle difficult situations calmly and professionally and escalate matters when appropriate.
  • Maintain a visible and professional presence in guest areas.
Employee Leadership & Accountability
  • Lead by example and promote teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Provide daily direction, coaching, and feedback to employees.
  • Reinforce hotel policies, procedures, safety standards, and service expectations.
  • Report on attendance, performance, conduct, or staffing concerns to management.
  • Assist with employee training and onboarding as assigned.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful work environment.
Scheduling, Coverage & Daily Operations
  • Assist management with daily staffing and operational coverage for Front Office and Housekeeping.
  • Monitor staffing levels throughout the shift and make operational adjustments based on occupancy, arrivals, departures, and business demands in support of the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Coordinate meal and rest breaks to maintain appropriate departmental coverage and comply with hotel policies and applicable requirements.
  • Communicate staffing shortages, call-outs, attendance concerns, and operational challenges to management.
  • Monitor overtime and early-outs for Front Office and Housekeeping within established guidelines and with appropriate management approval.
Safety, Security & Compliance
  • Maintain awareness of guest, employee, and property safety.
  • Report accidents, injuries, security concerns, hazards, and unsafe conditions to management immediately.
  • Ensure employees follow established safety procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guests, employee, and company information.
  • Participate in emergency procedures and perform assigned duties during emergencies.
  • Follow all company policies, hotel standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Complete required shift checklists, room inspection reports, MOD reports, and other departmental documentation.
  • Maintain accurate room and operational information throughout the shift.
  • Communicate important information during shift handoffs.
  • Keep management informed of significant guest, staffing, maintenance, or operational concerns.
  • Attend required meetings and training.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote harmonious working environment.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Perform other reasonable job-related duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.
    • Attends work as scheduled.
    • Follows COVID-19 guidelines.
    • Follows hotel’s dress and grooming standards.
    • Minimizes safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures.
  • At all times, projects a favorable image of Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel to the public.

Physical Requirements:
  • Standing/Walking: Frequently throughout the shift.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push or pull carts and equipment as needed.
  • Bending/Kneeling: Occasionally.
  • Reaching: Occasionally.
  • Walking: Ability to regularly walk throughout guestrooms, guest floors, public areas, Front Office areas, and operational areas.
  • Ability to work for extended periods while standing and walking.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hotel environment and respond appropriately to changing operational needs.
