Community Events Specialist (Temp)
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Resources and Operations the Community Events Specialist plans and supports curricular and community programming events for the College of Humanities and the Arts (COHA) and its academic units. This position plays a key role in collaborating with faculty staff and students to ensure consistent high-quality event production that reflects the Colleges mission vision and brand identity. Working closely with the Director of Public Programming the Marketing Coordinator and the Project Specialist the Community Events Specialist develops organizes and executes a wide range of university and public events involving faculty students community leaders and external partners. The role requires occasional evening and weekend work in support of scheduled events.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan coordinate and manage Artistic Excellence Programming Group (AEPG) and community outreach events for COHA and its departments
- Develop event timelines track budgets and coordinate staffing logistics and facility use
- Ensure compliance with university and Tower Foundation procurement reimbursement and risk management policies
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications staff to design promotional materials and content for events
- Manage requisitions payments and reconciliations for event budgets
- Serve as the primary point of contact for event-related procurement questions and financial tracking
- Plan and execute a variety of college events from small receptions to large-scale galas
- Hire train and supervise student assistants supporting event operations
- Maintain event calendars directories websites and social media platforms to promote engagement
- Collect post-event feedback and prepare summary reports to evaluate event outcomes and return on investment

- General knowledge of standard office technology and systems and software applications such as word processing spreadsheet and database management
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the work group and serve as a liaison for the department
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist
- Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Must possess excellent customer service and public relations skills
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelors degree and/or equivalent training
- Administrative work experience involving study analysis and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies procedures practices or programs
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS related to disciples in Humanities & the Arts or business
- Four (4) years of related experience in office management event management project management and customer service
- Experience with computers relational databases and spreadsheets applications
- Experience in the supervision and training of staff and familiarity with university policies and department procedures
Compensation
Classification: Administrative Analyst/Specialist Non Exempt
Anticipated Hiring Range: $32.44/hour - $35.82/month (Step 9 Step 14)
CSU Salary Range: $27.69/hour - $40.34/hour (Step 1 Step 20)
