Description:
The California Department of Industrial Relations is seeking a Public Records Coordinator to support operations within a district office under the Workers’ Compensation system. This role, classified as a Management Services Technician (MST), involves assisting with Public Records Act (PRA) requests and performing analytical and administrative tasks related to public information management.
Working under the supervision of the Presiding Workers’ Compensation Judge and receiving general guidance from the Associate Chief Judge, the selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing and processing incoming public records requests. This includes analyzing requests, conducting research, and ensuring responses are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable Government Code regulations.
The role offers a structured work environment with a standard Monday to Friday schedule (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM), along with the opportunity for telework up to two days per week. The position is based in an office setting in Oakland, California, where duties involve extensive computer use for research, communication, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and evaluating Public Records Act requests for accuracy and compliance
- Conducting research and analysis to gather relevant data and information
- Preparing timely and accurate responses to public inquiries
- Ensuring adherence to Government Code regulations and internal procedures
- Communicating effectively with the public regarding PRA-related matters
- Supporting administrative and analytical functions within the district office
- Maintaining organized records and documentation for tracking requests
