Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I, Office of Risk Management (ORM), and in alignment with the goals and objectives of the ORM , the Associate Governmental Program Analyst performs analytical and administrative assignments related to the risk mitigation of special incident reports (SIR) for other DDS divisions and outside entities.

Tasks include reviewing SIRs, conducting SIR data analysis, engaging with multidisciplinary teams, participate in assignments related to risk mitigation, communicating across internal teams and with external parties to advance the goals of assigned projects. The Associate Governmental Program Analyst will also provide training and technical assistance in the oversight and review of special incident report data to support implementation strategies related to risk mitigation. This position requires the ability to reason logically and creatively, think critically, use good judgement, utilize a variety of analytical techniques and have knowledge of Title 17 SIR reporting requirements for the Regional Centers and vendor staff.

Effective July 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three percent in exchange for five hours per month of the Personal Leave.

Working Conditions

Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time. Incumbent must live and work in California. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position requires lawful authorization to work in the United States. The Department does not sponsor employment visas for this position.

Special Requirements

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be numbered in the same order as the following areas, typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than two pages in length. Applicants who fail to answer the questions or submit an SOQ may not be considered.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Knowledge of :

  • Basic project management principles, including work plan development.
  • Effective use of computer software programs including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Title 17, and special incident reports.
  • Use of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI and Outlook.

Ability to :

  • Communicate effectively, in a clear, concise/succinct, and comprehensive manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Summarize detailed written content into easily consumed work products that are focused on salient, critical, and main points.
  • Gain and maintain the confidence and cooperation of those contacted during the course of work.
  • Work in a collaborative manner in multi-disciplinary teams and develop and maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with contractors, regional centers, Department staff, other state agencies, peers, the public and others.
  • Possess a high degree of organization of both work efforts and information.
  • Exercise good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and seeking understanding.
  • Be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
