JOB DESCRIPTION - VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Highly-rated, fast-paced pet hospital in the East Bay is expanding and needs your help. Eden Pet Hospital is looking for an energetic, caring, responsible and hard-working individual with an outstanding work ethic to fill our Veterinary Assistant position.

REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

Animal handling experience and confidence; ability to lift objects or pets of at least 50lbs; recognize certain behaviors in animals; working knowledge of basic medical terminology, common procedures and animal husbandry; comfortable interacting with the public; competent computer skills; spell, alphabetize, and perform basic mathematics; and provide exceptional customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a veterinary assistant your key role is to act as a direct assistant to our veterinarians and coordinate the care of each patient. Your job description includes getting a history from the client, assisting the veterinarian during the examination, keeping meticulous notes on the medical findings, and record care recommendations for each patient. You serve in a wide variety of tasks in the areas of: animal care coordination and treatment, customer service, and record keeping.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The ideal candidate enjoys working with people as much as they enjoy animals. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred. Please submit a brief paragraph with your resume explaining how your previous experience has prepared you for this position.

• The base hourly range for this position is $18.00- $20.00 Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
