• Location: University Hospital, Madison, WI 53792 (Wisconsin healthcare jobs)
• Position Type: Locum Tenens Surgical Technologist (Travel Contract)
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: January 26, 2026
• Contract Duration: 17 weeks
• Shifts: Day/Evening, Monday–Friday, 3x12-hour shifts (06:40–19:10 or 09:40–22:10)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,890–$1,940
• Call: Weekday, weekend, and possible holiday call required
• Floating: May float to multiple hospital units as needed
• Parking: Permit required; alternative transportation available

Surgical Technologist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent scrub tech or surgical technologist experience in hospital operating rooms
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program OR two years' direct experience as a surgical tech
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Demonstrated skills in ENT, plastics, ophthalmology, and gynecology/gender reassignment surgeries
• Ability to pass competency and telemetry exams prior to start
• Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from Madison, WI (travel healthcare requirement)

Surgical Technologist Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready
• Promote patient safety and support the surgical team during operations
• Assist surgeons during ENT, ophthalmology, plastics, and complex reconstructive surgeries
• Provide care for patients of all ages: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
• Maintain and handle surgical instruments and equipment, including scopes, fiber optics, and cell savers
• Float to other hospital units as needed to support clinical operations
• Participate in on-call rotations, including weekends and holidays
• Follow hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards
