Under the direction of the Employee Relations Manager ( Supervisor I) , the Health and Safety Specialist (Analyst II)leads strategically integrated programs and is responsible for advising and making recommendations to management regarding the Health & Safety, Wellness and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) programs for the California Department of Technology (CDT). TeleworkThis position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule within California based on departmental policy and operational needs. The telework policy is subject to change depending on business needs, and/or reporting to the work site may be required with minimal notification given. Pursuant to Executive Order, effective July 1, 2025, employees in this position will be required to report to the work site a minimum of two (2) days per week, increasing to four (4) days per week effective July 1, 2026. The specific on-site days will be determined by the department based on operational requirements. Visa Sponsorship

Working Conditions
- Must be flexible to work at various CDT locations (onsite, remote, field,), as required .
- Must be able to work outdoors at times and be able to lead emergency evacuations and drills.

SOQs must be no more than two (2) pages in length and typed using 12-point Arial font. The SOQ responses must address the following questions, numbered, and in the order listed below. The SOQ must be submitted along with the State Application. 1.What experience do you have in investigating or report writing in the following: workplace accidents, employee injuries, exposures, and/or major workplace threats?2.What experience do you have in conducting an Ergonomics Evaluation?
3.What, if any, training certifications do you have pertaining to: Ergonomics, First Aid, CalOSHA, and/or Injury Illness Prevention?
Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Comprehensive training and knowledge of health and safety codes, rules, and regulations.
- Strong understanding of Cal OSHA requirements, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of ergonomic assessments, including best practices and current trends in the field.
- Ability to build cooperative working relationships with staff at all levels, both within the department and across external organizations.
- Effective communication skills, capable of consulting and conveying information to staff at all levels within and outside the department to complete assignments efficiently.
- Analytical abilities to assess complex data and provide actionable recommendations or feedback to staff at all levels, both within and outside State Civil Service.
- Logical reasoning skills, with the ability to analyze data and reach accurate, defensible conclusions.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to complete assigned work and review it for accuracy and compliance.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment, with the capacity to handle shifting priorities and multitask effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a group setting, contributing to team success.
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, ensuring sensitive information is handled appropriately.
