Robotics Software Engineer

The Role
As a Robotics Software Engineer, you'll design and develop the software framework and cloud infrastructure that powers Flippy. You'll lead hands-on development across the full software lifecycle—from prototyping to commercialization—while collaborating with experts in controls, ML, and computer vision to evolve a scalable architecture for diverse kitchen environments. You'll also work to simplify and improve our internal tools for ease of use and broader adoption.
What You’ll Do :
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance software for complex robotic systems.
- Own the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to testing and release.
- Improve code quality and system performance through algorithm optimization, refactoring, and code reviews.
- Develop robust automated unit and system-level tests to ensure reliability and stability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to define requirements, assess risks, and deliver features on time and within budget.
- Document system architecture and data flow, and support team growth through mentorship and process improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
- 2+ years of professional experience developing software in Python or C++, ideally for robotics or automation.
- Strong grasp of kinematics, control systems, motion planning, and real-time software concepts.
- Experience with ROS, Linux, Docker, Git, and modern development tools (e.g., CMake, databases).
- Proven ability to deliver commercial software through multiple SDLC phases, including testing and deployment.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience in agile or distributed team environments.
- Must be available to work onsite in Pasadena, CA and travel up to 25%

Compensation
$100,000-$130,000/yr + Equity + Benefits
The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range for candidates residing in the Los Angeles Metro area and excludes additional earnings such as bonus and benefits. If your salary requirements fall outside of the range, we still encourage you to apply.
