Job Description and Duties

Under general supervision of the IT Supervisor II Enterprise Application/Web Development Unit. The incumbent will perform a variety of recurring, well-defined tasks for in-house applications for information technology system problems, and work with technical specialists. The incumbent must have a proficient knowledge of data processing concepts, practices, methods, and principles within the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and/or Agile, and work as a team member with other programmers and represent the office at internal and external meetings supporting the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW) Application Architecture. This position is under the Software Engineering domain of IT Classification Consolidation.

This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Beginning July 1, 2026, employees will be required to work in-person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25. Additional in-office days may be required based on operational needs.

Working Conditions

Ability to work at a desk using a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time but may require walking or standing. This position will be in downtown Sacramento but the incumbent will be expected to visit the Administration Division offices, located in another building within walking distance. Attending meetings, working with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Occasional travel via private or public transportation may be required, up to 5% of total time worked.
