Commercial Solar O&M | Leadership Role
Location: Central Valley, California 
Compensation: $38–$48 per hour (Based on experience)
Travel: Regional travel required

Position Overview

The Field Foreman of Service plays a key leadership role within the Service division, overseeing field execution of reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and retrofit projects across commercial solar PV systems.

This individual serves as both a hands-on technical expert and team leader, mentoring Service Technicians while ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with electrical codes, engineering specifications, and company quality standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong commercial electrical experience, solar expertise, and the ability to lead teams in dynamic field environments.

Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Execution

• Lead and mentor Service Technicians in daily field operations
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root cause analysis on commercial PV systems
• Execute preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and retrofit work
• Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable codes and standards
• Coordinate field execution strategy, staffing needs, and scheduling priorities

Technical Expertise

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems related to commercial solar installations
• Work with central inverters, string inverters, transformers, switchgear, DAS systems, and related electrical components
• Interpret construction drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications
• Identify equipment issues and recommend repair or replacement strategies
• Serve as a subject matter expert for the Service team

Team Development

• Provide training, coaching, and technical guidance to Service Technicians
• Support skill development and performance improvement within the field team
• Assist leadership with performance feedback and development planning

Project Coordination

• Review project scope, materials, and schedules to ensure efficient execution
• Coordinate with Service Superintendent, Project Managers, and internal teams
• Ensure accurate daily field reporting and documentation
• Procure necessary materials and coordinate vendor communication when required

Safety & Quality

• Maintain a strong safety first culture in all field operations
• Conduct jobsite safety reviews and ensure proper PPE usage
• Perform quality control inspections to ensure work meets company standards
• Maintain company equipment and ensure proper usage in field conditions

Operational Support

• Maintain availability for on call service as needed for emergency response
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Service division
• Assist with additional duties as required to support operational success

Required Qualifications

• Licensed Journeyman Electrician or equivalent commercial electrical experience
• Ability and willingness to obtain California Electrical Certification if not currently licensed
• Minimum 5 years commercial electrical experience
• Experience working with commercial solar PV systems
• Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics
• Experience interacting with AHJs, utilities, and inspectors
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Ability to work independently while leading field teams

Preferred Experience

• Commercial solar O&M or EPC experience
• Experience working with DAS systems and monitoring equipment
• Experience with medium voltage equipment
• Experience leading small field teams
• Strong working knowledge of electrical theory and diagnostics
• Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, and field reporting systems

Supervisory Scope

• Lead and mentor 1–5 Service Technicians, Electrical Trainees, and Journeymen
• Support workforce development and technical skill advancement
