As a Sr. Front End Engineer , you will build tools that make a difference for people and the planet. You will build systems that turn climate data and models into outputs that help people and organizations act with confidence. Whether it is a risk dashboard for a global supply chain or a yield forecast for a farm halfway around the world, your work will blend technical solutions with real-world impact.

We combine some of the latest advancements in AI, geospatial data processing, machine learning, and agronomic process-based models to simplify decision-making for our customers. We’re looking for experienced engineers with a strong foundation in building and shipping software, and a desire to push their skills further in these areas.

You’ll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, climate scientists, researchers, and product leaders who share a strong sense of urgency and purpose.

We are growing our in-person presence at our new downtown San Francisco, CA office and are looking for engineers excited to build things.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with engineering, design, user experience, product and analytics teams to identify needs, evaluate requirements, write specifications, and design and implement sophisticated software systems.


• Bring a proven understanding of algorithms, design patterns, debugging and memory/performance optimization.


• Write well crafted, efficient and testable code in Javascript / Typescript / Python / Java / Golang.


• Be experienced in core tech related engineering domains such as low-level systems, SDK integration and device performance characteristics.


• Create documentation and tech plans for new architecture/system designs


• Have an impact across on features, performance and developer efficiency.


• Conduct regular code reviews to ensure high quality


• Scope out tasks and systems, looking for future improvements


• Strive for excellence in software craftsmanship, and collaborate with peers to improve software design.


• Grow with the business; stretch yourself and learn new skills and domains.

Desired Skills & Experience

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent)


• 3-5 years proven experience as a software developer.


• Good programming experience in frontend technologies like Javascript, Typescript, HTML, CSS and frameworks like React or Vue.


• Good programming experience in backend development technologies like Python, Java, Golang, Ruby, etc.


• Experience developing and contributing to production quality backends monoliths or micro services.


• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions


• Comfortable understanding and debugging unfamiliar code in a large project.


• Proven track record collaborating with other partners to design and implement features and systems with excellent problem solving skills.


• Good communication skills – particularly the ability to discuss timelines, design concerns and provide helpful feedback to team members.

Compensation

The base compensation range for employees based in the US is $140,000-190,000 and equity in line with experience and company stage. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at ClimateAi and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, business need and US location.
