Program Manager, Outreach & Audiences
About the Role
OpenAI’s Global Affairs team is seeking a highly organized and creative Partnerships and Program Manager to help grow two of our flagship public engagement initiatives: OpenAI Academy, our AI literacy and upskilling platform, and OpenAI Forum, our expert dialogue series on the future of AI. Reporting to the Director of Outreach and Audience Engagement, you’ll help shape and deliver programming that connects OpenAI’s mission to critical audiences around the world.
This role offers the opportunity to design meaningful engagement strategies, manage high-impact programs, and build partnerships with educators, nonprofits, public sector leaders, and other key communities. From shaping content to managing events and building audiences, you’ll play a hands-on role in amplifying OpenAI’s outreach and fostering long-term, mission-aligned relationships.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In This Role, You Will
Own Program Execution:
Support day-to-day execution of OpenAI Academy and Forum initiatives, including serving as liaison for partners, providing regular updates, handling logistics, and surfacing key needs.
Coordinate and manage virtual and in-person events, workshops, and discussion forums.
Lead operational tasks including vendor coordination, guest communications, timeline tracking, and reporting.
Track KPIs, analyze participant feedback, and report progress to cross-functional partners.
Coordinate across internal teams: Work with comms, policy, and events teams to align on partner contributions and ensure expectations are met.
Create and Curate Content:
Contribute to the development of session topics, guest speaker lists, and content formats for Academy and Forum programming.
Edit and produce short-form video content (e.g., event highlights, social clips) to drive public engagement.
Develop clear, accessible written materials such as course outlines, discussion guides, and event briefs.
Engage and Grow Audiences:
Support outreach to educators, nonprofits, and public sector organizations to drive audience participation.
Partner with internal design and communications teams to amplify content via blog posts, social media, and public events.
Build feedback loops to incorporate participant insights into future programming.
You Might Thrive in This Role If You Have
Experience managing high-impact programs with multiple stakeholders and moving parts, including complex timelines, tracking deliverables and communicating clearly and diplomatically with diverse stakeholders.
A background in program or project management, ideally in content creation, education, or public engagement contexts.
Strong creative instincts—comfortable generating ideas for sessions, speakers, and content formats.
Basic video editing skills (e.g., clipping conversations into short-form videos) and ability to work with production partners.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Passion for OpenAI’s mission and interest in education, policy, or the social impacts of AI.
Familiarity with instructional design, public affairs, or community-building strategies.
Experience organizing events, workshops, or convenings.
Comfort with collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., Notion, Descript, Final Cut, Figma).
