What you get to own:
- Accounts Receivable: Apply and reconcile accounts receivable payments, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Accounts Payable: Manage overhead and recurring AP entry, coding, and payment processing to streamline workflows and optimize team productivity.
- Payroll Support: Serve as a backup for timekeeping and payroll processing, including reviewing and processing field and staff timesheets to ensure accurate and timely payroll. Validate the payroll journal entries for accuracy and completeness, ensuring alignment with timekeeping records and compliance with company policies.
- Payroll Analytics: Develop and track payroll metrics, including Full Time Equivalent (FTE) counts, labor cost reporting, and trends. Assist in configuring and maintaining employee classifications and the company org chart within Paychex to ensure accurate payroll structure and reporting.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports, including Monthly Revenue, Weekly A/R, Weekly A/,P, and Cash Flow. Collaborate with leadership to generate custom reports, focusing on project cost and margin analysis.
- Reconciliation & Closing Support: Support account reconciliations (cash accounts, sub-ledger tie-outs, credit cards, etc.), journal entries, and monthly financial closings.
- Additional Duties: Support special projects assigned by the Controller or Assistant Controller, including audits, process improvements, and financial analysis.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years in accounting, with construction accounting experience highly preferred. We will train the right candidate eager to learn and grow in the construction field.
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct is highly preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency with payroll systems (Paychex preferred but not required)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills while collaborating effectively across departments.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all financial tasks.
- Work out of our Monterey office
