Summary

As a Software Engineer III (Senior), you will join our highly skilled Engineering team, working on our FINEOS New Business and Underwriting solution.  As a part of the team, you will develop new product features, influence architectural decisions, innovate and propose improvements while also mentoring more junior software developers. 

All our Software Engineers work closely and collaborate with other developers, testers, and other cross-functional team members, adhering to our standards and processes.  We follow the principles of Agile Scrum methodology, and the role would be assigned to one of several Scrum teams supporting the FINEOS New Business and Underwriting solution.  

What do we need? 

FINEOS is looking for an experienced Software Engineer with excellent design and programming skills in NodeJS/Javascript/Typescript/React. A successful candidate must have an aptitude for considering the bigger picture, the knowledge to consider all options, the innovation to select the best solution, and the determination to take the solution to completion while maintaining a focus on delivering quality and value to the customer.  

Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Lead design and development of new features and ongoing product enhancements.

  • Work independently on critical tasks and assume leadership roles when required.

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC): technical analysis, design, development, and unit testing.

  • Mentor junior engineers through best practices, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.

  • Identify and drive improvements and innovations within the development process.

  • Provide accurate technical estimates for solutions.

  • Ensure high-quality design and implementation, focusing on:

    • Performance, scalability, and security

    • Modularity, interoperability, and upgradability

  • Develop both back-end services and front-end web interfaces.

  • Create and maintain architecture diagrams, design documentation, and technical specifications.

  • Produce accurate and clear documentation for APIs, services, and infrastructure components.

  • Foster positive relationships with team members, customers, and partners while promoting FINEOS values.

Education/experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering with full SDLC exposure.

  • Proven experience implementing AWS serverless architectures on enterprise-scale systems.

  • Strong development skills in:

    • Languages: Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS

    • Front-end: React

    • Databases: Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB

    • DevOps & CI/CD: AWS CDK, GitHub Actions, NPM, Docker

  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar Agile methodologies.

  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.

  • Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and reliable code.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in the insurance domain is a plus.

  • Multi-platform experience (Linux/Unix/Windows).

  • AWS or other cloud certifications (or willingness to pursue).

  • Exposure to Agile development environments.

Language Skills

  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

Work Requirements

  • Compliance with all relevant FINEOS Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.
  • Travel and fieldwork, including international travel may be required. Therefore, employee must possess, or be able to acquire a valid passport.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which you are hired.

Salary range - $150-180k
