About Us Jo's Modern Thai is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in Oakland's Laurel District. We serve Thai Californian food rooted in technique and built for a neighborhood that expects more. We are in an active growth phase and looking for people who want to grow with us.
The Role We are looking for a Front of House Manager who can run service, lead a team, and bring real structure to a fast paced restaurant. This is a hands on role. You are on the floor, you own the shift, and you hold the standard.
What You'll Do Lead FOH staff through lunch and dinner service Own pacing, table flow, and kitchen communication Run preshift and set clear expectations every shift Handle guest recovery with professionalism Maintain dining room standards, table settings, and cleanliness Train staff and build toward consistent service Manage FOH ordering, par levels, storage, and monthly inventory Assist with weekly scheduling
What We're Looking For 2 to 4 years of restaurant experience 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role Strong communication and organizational skills Comfortable leading a team in high volume service Experience in chef driven restaurants preferred Weekend availability required including lunch and dinner Must be 21 or older Valid California Food Handler certification
Compensation $27/hr to start Quarterly performance bonuses Clear path to $30 to $32/hr based on performance Shift meal and dining discounts Paid sick leave
